Delray Beach has one of the best snook fisheries in the whole world. The inshore waters are kept warm by the nearby Gulfstream current year round, creating a prime natural habitat for snook that need warm water temps to survive. There are numerous hot spots to target snook during one of our Delray Beach fishing charters.
Broadbill Swordfish can be caught during a full day trip on one of our Delray Beach deep sea fishing charters. We target swordfish 20 miles offshore, where they feed along the bottom in 2,000 feet of water. Fishing at such great depths requires us to use electric reels in order to haul the heavy weights against the current. If stand-up fishing is your thing, then swordfishing off Delray Beach is not for you. Instead, these fish are landed by leaving the rod in the rod holder and pressing a button. The swordfish off our coast average 80 to 150 lbs, but there are plenty of 300lb + fish waiting to inhale one of our squid baits.
Sailfish are probably the most popular game fish for customers on one of our Delray Beach fishing charters. Sailfish are targeted mainly by using live baits, but we catch them while trolling on occasion as well. We catch sailfish in Delray Beach year round, but during the cooler months of Winter they are most prevalent. The best conditions for sailfishing are right after a cold front when North winds push through South Florida. Sailfish are a catch and release only species, but our customers are welcome to take photos before release.
Goliath grouper are one of the largest fish in the ocean, and they are abundant near the local reefs of Delray Beach. We often get requests to target these overgrown groupers, which can reach sizes up to 600 lbs! These monster fish require great strength from the angler on the reel, but catching one will give a sense of accomplishment that lasts a lifetime. Goliath grouper are catch and release only during our Delray Beach fishing charters.
We are often surprised by exotic catches during our Delray Beach fishing charters, such as this rare oceanic puffer (or rabbit fish). This guy ate a trolled ballyhoo about a mile offshore.
Wahoo are one of the most challenging fish to catch during one of our Delray Beach fishing charters. These gamefish are one of the fastest species of fish in the ocean, able to reach speeds up to 60 mph. We target wahoo by trolling at high speeds from 6 to 20 mph using dead bait and artificial lures, but they are also caught incidentally while fishing with live bait as well. High speed trolling for wahoo in Delray Beach has become one of the most popular methods with local anglers, and this type of charter is available upon request.
Monster king mackerel, such as this 50 pounder, can be targeted less than a mile offshore during one of our Delray Beach fishing charters. Big king mackerel respond well to live baits intended for sailfish, so they make a welcomed by-catch for sailfish anglers looking to take home dinner.
Giant mutton snapper can be targeted during the full moon and new moon periods during our Delray Beach fishing charters. This is when they congregate along deep reef ledges and fall victim to live bait such as pilchards, goggle eyes, and ballyhoo. Mutton snapper trips require special rigging and equipment, so make sure to tell us ahead of time if you would like to target them.
Black grouper and gag grouper are available to catch off our coastline during the Winter and Spring months, when they congregate on local reefs and wrecks. During this time, we target them by using live bait or trolling deep with lures and natural baits. Grouper regulations and recreational limits and seasons is constantly changing, so ask ahead of time about grouper fishing on one of our Delray Beach fishing charters.
Mahi Mahi are a staple catch during our Delray Beach fishing charters. They are available to catch year round, and we usually find them under flocks of birds or around floating debris. Mahi Mahi will fall victim to live baits, but trolling for them is definitely the most effective way to catch them.
Our smaller charter boat is a 20′ Angler center console, perfect for small groups looking for some intense light tackle fishing on the intracoastal waterway and near-coastal waters. We can bring groups of four on this boat for Delray Beach inshore fishing charters. Captain Chris Agardy is known as one of the best inshore fishing guides in South Florida.
Yellowtail snapper are one of the more delicious-tasting species that we encounter during our Delray Beach fishing charters. These tasty snappers are caught by fishing live baits near the bottom, usually less than a mile from the shoreline. These are considered a special treat during our deep sea fishing trips.
Bonito are the most abundant species encountered during our Delray Beach fishing charters. They have no food value, but they are an incredible game fish that can pull as hard as any other fish in the ocean. These are the fish that keep our customers busy while they are targeting other, more desirable species.
Big blackfin tuna can be encountered from April through July during our Delray Beach fishing charters. This is the time of year when we can expect to catch tuna up to 40 lbs. During the rest of the year smaller tuna are available during trolling trips.
Monster snook are available year round, but during the Summer months they are pretty much a guaranteed catch as they spawn in great numbers along the beaches and inlets. We use light tackle with live bait to tackle these linesiders, and if they are in season, they make excellent table fare! Ask us about targeting snook during one of our Delray Beach fishing charters.
